A Game Jam This Weekend!
The Youngstown Game Developers (YGD) along with the John J McDonough Museum of Art will be hosting Youngstown’s first Game Jam! What is a game jam? A game jam is an event where people come together to create a video game in a limited time frame and based on a particular theme. The YGD April Game Jam will be a 48 hour overnight game jam at the McDonough Museum, YSU’s Center for Contemporary Ideas, Art, Education and Community.
When Does the Game Jam Start?
The Jam will start on April 1st at 6:00 pm with check-in for the registered attendees. At 7:00 pm there will be a keynote speech, a short talk about game jamming, and the announcement of this year’s theme. After the opening presentation, the attendees will break o into groups and begin creating their games.
At 3:00 pm on April 3rd all of the teams will present the amazing games they created! The game jam is sold out, however YGD would like to invite you to come down and check out what the students and local developers are creating during this weekend.
With over 30 people attending, it will be an exciting event!
“I’m very excited to be helping to host Youngstown’s rst game jam. I am very thankful for all of our sponsors including YSU’s McDonough Museum of Art. Without them, this would not have been possible.”

About Youngstown Game Developers
The Youngstown Game Developers is a North East Ohio independent game development resourcing group that focuses on helping people become successful game developers in the entertainment technology field. We work day and night to bring an organization for students, professionals, and hobby enthusiasts to come together to learn, talk about, and become a part of the video game development industry.
Our goal is to help our community grow and create jobs within the entertainment technology field and have fun developing games. Youngstown Game Developers work with schools, students, companies, independent developers and anyone in between to learn about what game development is, and offers tools to help them succeed.
