So, my weekend was busy… The life of an indie game developer is almost never relaxing and restful. There’s always something that needs done, especially during the indie game development phase.
Shawn’s daughter came over on Saturday, so I took her around town to hunt for Pokemon on Saturday evening. We had fun, and even took over a gym together. Nerd family bonding.
We brought Molly with us, so Molly could have her doggy fun, too.
I got home around 9:00 pm and worked on some in-game decorations for the first level. I was really tired, so I went to sleep pretty early Saturday night. I think I crawled into bed around 11:00 pm. I read a little of my book and passed out.
Sunday, I made plans to hang out with my mom and sister-in-law. We went up to Hudson, Ohio and walked around some cute shopping area.
I got home around 6:00 pm. Immediately, I started working on my indie game, Save Me From Myself. I created some traffic lights 2D graphics.
I’d like to add a little animation to the 2D graphics because it will be cooler looking than just a plain static image. But I will wait until I know how they are going to be viewed in the indie game, Save Me From Myself so I don’t waste any time making animation that I won’t use.
The Indie Game Development
I also got some placeholders for the Change Boxes, breakable boxes and a few of the climb-able walls ready. They are almost ready to be placed in my indie game.
Soon, I will be able to attach 2D collision components to them, and get the placeholders ready to be functional.
Anyways, I’m super excited for how things are coming along for Save Me From Myself. This indie game is going to be great. I am sure many of you will enjoy playing it as soon as it’s ready.
I will be submitting it to be accepted for development for XBox and PS4, once I get the playable demo ready.
I am aiming for the playable demo to be ready by October 2016 and I will be demo-ing it at the Game Dev Expo in Columbus, Ohio.
My younger brother, and my soon to be sister-in-law will be helping me run my indie game booth. This will allow me the opportunity to mingle with other developers and game players, and maybe even catch a presentation from another developer.
I will also be attending the Game Dev Expo with some of the Youngstown Game Developers. So, the expo will be a blast, probably better than last year.
Although, this year, I will probably take it easy on the drinks Friday night at the VIP social.
Anyways, it’s late. I need some beauty rest for work tomorrow. Until I write next time.
Will you be attending the Game Dev Expo this year? Will you be attending any other game dev, nerd, geek, video game expos or cons this year? I’d love to hear about your favorite game conventions that you’s attended over the years!
