So, I know it’s been a few weeks since I have made an entry. I do apologize for that. A lot of things have happened.

Moving On
First, my wonderful Uncle Alan Gorenstein has passed away, unexpectedly. He was a wonderful man, person, father, uncle, grandfather, friend, and so much more. He has been helping me with my resume, and was always thinking about others and finding a way to help them. He will be missed, and I’m sad I didn’t visit him more often.
Moving Forward with My Job Search
I have also decided to probably move back east, although if a good job opportunity comes up, I might stay. I moved out here for opportunity, because as a child, I felt like the west half of the US was a place for opportunity and a better foot in the door for art, design, and gaming. While I learned a lot, and was introduced to many artists and designers, as soon as the economy fell, Arizona became a wasteland for artists.
It is hard to find a stable graphic design job in Arizona. There are also so many designers and not enough full time jobs available for us. Freelance in Arizona, is also a joke; businesses want to pay you minimum wage, but they want a $100 per hour job. So, I am working at Circle K, waiting for something to open up, and taking whatever freelance comes my way.
I started doing a bit of research, and found that back on the East half of the US, graphic designers are usually paid better, and there seem to be more opportunities available. So, unless an opportunity comes up soon in Arizona, I will be looking for jobs outside of Arizona.
I’m taking up a lot of freelance work, and I have been super busy, and tired, and learning that not all freelance clients are enjoyable. But today, I finished one of the freelance projects, and won’t start on my new one for a week. Now, I will take this week to catch up on my personal work, and getting my resume out to some companies that need graphic artists.
The resume that I’m working on will be a series of graphic resumes, based on themes. I thought it would be a more fun way to apply to jobs, stand out, and ad pieces to my portfolio of work. Once those are finished, I will be sending out resumes in PDF formats with emails, and print copies, where I can, via snail mail.
Moving the Game
And we can’t forget, me making my game. I am definitely working on “Save Me from Myself”, but the day before I flew to Virginia to attend the funeral of my beloved uncle, my computer crashed, from my main hard drive failure. It only runs software and my OS, so I didn’t lose any information, but I had to wait until I got back to order the new hard drive for my OS. I got my hard drive the other day, but haven’t had the time to re-install Windows, and replace the hard drive I am borrowing from my room mate. I think I will probably do that tomorrow, since I have the day off of work, and no freelance duties this week.
Well, by the end of tomorrow, I will have all of my software properly installed on my new hard drive, and be able to get back to working on “Save Me from Myself” and learning the XNA Game Studio.
Until next time…..
