"We Come In Peace …" Artificial Intelligence Panel Discussion with NEOACM

The Northeast Ohio ACM Chapter with the Kent State University Library, are sponsoring an Artificial Intelligence panel discussion that will discuss the moral, ethical and economic implications of Artificial Intelligence technology on the average citizen. This discussion will take place on:

September 10, 2016 at 1:00 – 3:30 PM at Kent State University’s Kiva Auditorium in the Student Center.

The panelists will be:

Dr. Sven Koenig: Professor of Computer Science at University of Southern California

Dr. Pooyan Fazli: Director of the People and Robots Laboratory at Cleveland State University

Paul Carlson: Intelligent Community Strategist for Columbus Ohio

Dr. Mark Vopat: Professor of Political Philosophy, Applied Ethics at Youngstown State University

Stuart Johnson: Vice President of Digital Works & Interim Executive Director Connect Ohio

This panel on artificial intelligence, entitled: “We Come In Peace”, will discuss the many current positive contributions from AI technology and what it may provide in the future, but will also discuss the challenges that have to be met in implementing AI for our society. Extensive questions will be posed to the panelists from the moderator and the audience. Here is the format of the discussion:

The Format:

• Brief introduction and summary by each of the panelists (20 mins. in all)

• Questions posed by the moderator, Cameron Hughes from Ctest Laboratories, and a discussion amongst panelists. (45 mins.)

• Break (10 mins.)

• Questions from Audience (50 mins.)

• Marvin Minsky Video Tribute (10 mins.)
